Splicing high voltage cables

You never butt splice high voltage cables without putting them in a junction box. Also it is good practice to keep AC and DC in their own junction boxes. We follow all ABYC boat safety recommendations.

Set chargers to the specs of the battery

It’s important to make sure you chargers are set to the specs of the battery manufacturer. Setting the dip switches is not enough. Over charging expensive gel cell batteries is no bueno!

Check phase rotation before disconnecting power

When working on this beautiful Trinity upgrading their shore power converter to an Atlas SPA II, the phase rotation must be checked before disconnecting power. You don’t want the pumps to spin backwards.
